Book Talk: Royally Screwed by Emma Chase

29991719Nicholas Arthur Frederick Edward Pembrook, Crowned Prince of Wessco, aka His Royal Hotness, is wickedly charming, devastatingly handsome, and unabashedly arrogant; hard not to be when people are constantly bowing down to you.

Then, one snowy night in Manhattan, the prince meets a dark haired beauty who doesn’t bow down. Instead, she throws a pie in his face.

Nicholas wants to find out if she tastes as good as her pie, and this heir apparent is used to getting what he wants.

Dating a prince isn’t what waitress Olivia Hammond ever imagined it would be.

There’s a disapproving queen, a wildly inappropriate spare heir, relentless paparazzi, and brutal public scrutiny. While they’ve traded in horse drawn carriages for Rolls Royces, and haven’t chopped anyone’s head off lately, the royals are far from accepting of this commoner.

But to Olivia, Nicholas is worth it.

Nicholas grew up with the whole world watching, and now Marriage Watch is in full force. In the end, Nicholas has to decide who he is and, more importantly, who he wants to be: a King… or the man who gets to love Olivia forever.

Another solid one from Emma Chase! This girl never stops to amaze me with her witty and quirky novels.

In Royally Screwed, book one of the Royally series, we follow Prince Nicholas, the next in line to be king of Wessco. He is mandated by his position as the future king to marry a woman who is of noble blood and one from his circle. To betray this mandate is betray the people. On the other hand, we also follow Olivia Hammond. Liv is running a pastry shop her mother left her to make ends meet. She’s badly struggling with life and she is nothing but penniless Liv.  The big question is, will there ever be a happily ever after for Nicholas and Liv? How it all ended will pleasantly surprise you!

Nicholas is a natural charmer, and I loved him for that. He does  not even need to try! Or maybe it was his being a prince that did all that! 🙂 Either way, I loved how crass and dirty and romantic he is all at the same time. Liv, on the other hand, is a very relatable and lovable New Yorker. She’s practical and smart, but she also dreams of a happy ending.

Overall, I liked Royally Screwed. There so many times that I felt my heart being wrenched and I feel my chest aching. Emma Chase is just so good making scenes that touches me and stabs deep in my heart. This might not be the best one she’s ever written (because Hello, Drew Evans!), but i totally recommend!

Four solid royal stars!

WWW Wednesday #4 | April 26, 2017

screen-shot-2017-02-16-at-12-22-19-pm

As you probably all know, WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Taking On a World of Words where you just have to answer the three W-questions! 🙂 It’s some sort of a quick reading update, so here we go

The 3 W’s are:

  1. What are you currently reading?
  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you think you’ll read next?

I’m currently reading two, one I’ve been reading super slow on purpose because I don’t want it to end, and one I’ve been holding off because of heavy work load.

I am enjoying both Caraval by Stephanie Garber and Royally Screwed by Emma Chase so far. I like doing this, you know, reading two books at one time but of totally different genres. I usually do fantasy and new adult at the same time, it’s my fave combo!

I just recently finished reading Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon and I have a full non-spoiler review of it here in my blog! 🙂 It’s a good YA and I loved it! 🙂

Well, this is a tough one. I’m probably getting into Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel, which is my Rainbow Bookclub book of the month for April. I’m also looking at two of the e-arcs I’m provided with by their publishers: My Life as a Bench and Undeclared. Or I might finally be picking up Thirteen Reasons Why before I get into the show! Which do you recommend, guys? I’m kinda torn tbh! 🙂

Lists: December 2016 TBR!

It’s been a long while since I last made a TBR list and actually followed it. So for the last month of 2016, for the sake of appearing to be being a good book blogger (Heh!), I’m making a list of the books I’m hoping to hit this month!

cover_ravenboys_300

I’m currently reading The Raven Boys, the first of the Raven Cycle series. Currently on the third chapter and definitely loving every single bit of it!

tog-nyt-cover

I have read Throne of Glass mid-2015 and I remember giving an almost perfect rating in Goodreads. I loved it so much that I intended to start Crown of Midnight right after closing the last page of the first book. Life has gotten in the way, though. I was reading it during my finals week and also while I was writing my thesis. So, ugh, I had to put the series down 😦 Anyway, now that I have all the time in the world, I’m re-reading Throne of Glass so I can binge read the rest of this series! ❤

I’ve been seeing Nina Lacour’s Everything Leads to You for sometime now in booktube and I have long been intrigued by it. I’m not sure if I’d pick this book up by myself, though, so it’s a really good thing this was chosen as our book-of-the-month over at Rainbow Bookclub!

If you are looking for a good LGBT-YA, I think this would be one good choice! Will definitely update you about my whole reading experience here!

29991719

I have long been a HUUUGE Emma Chase fan! I read every single one of her works right at their very time of release. Again this year, however, things were quite heavy with school so when Royally Screwed was published last October, I didn’t have a choice but to let it pass. Sigh. 😦

But now the time has come!! I finally have it in my hands and I just can’t wait to read it soonest! ❤

TheGoal-iBooks-424x650

The Goal is the 4th and final instalment of the Off-Campus series by Elle Kennedy. The first three books are definitely the best NA romances I’ve had in months, and I am expecting no less for this one!

Elle Kennedy is definitely hitting what NA should be and I’m definitely reading whatever she publishes! ❤
