Top 10 Tuesdays: Top Ten Books that will make you read the whole day away

screen-shot-2017-02-28-at-10-07-31-pm

This week’s Top 10 Tuesday is centered on books that will not take so much of your time, not because they’re short, but because you just won’t be able to put them down! Yes, my friends, we are doing a list of the unputdownables!

Upon seeing the prompt, I knew right away that my NAs are gonna go in handy here. Oh,  and all those fluffy contemporaries too! 🙂

Above are my middle grade fantasy picks that are just oh-so-gripping you could finish them in one sitting!

  1. Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan
  2. A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
  3. The Rithmatist by Brandon Sanderson

Now here’s a  combination of my faves. Legend is probably my all time favorite dystopian trilogy and I can’t recommend it enough. On The Fence is just so nice and sweet you wouldn’t wanna pass up on reading it. And Never Never. What can I say? Although the 3rd installment disappointed me, it’s definitely something you would wanna finish in a day, because you will not be able to sleep with all those cliff hangers!

  1. Never Never by Colleen Hoover & Tarryn Fisher
  2. On The Fence by Kasie West
  3. Legend by Marie Lu

Ahh and finally,  all these titles make me happy ❤ If you’re looking for something to read the whole day away, just pick any NA book by any of these authors (especially Emma Chase! <3) and you’ll be good to go, my friend. NA is always the way.

  1. The Deal by Elle Kennedy
  2. Hook Up by Kristen Callihan
  3. Tangled by Emma Chase
  4. Hating Game by Sally Thorne

Let’s talk about the books you’ve read in just one sitting! 🙂 I would love to hear your recommendations too! Don’t forget to holler below!

Top 10 Tuesdays: Top 10 2016 Book Releases that I Wish I Read Right Away

screen-shot-2017-02-28-at-10-07-31-pm

It’s not Tuesday. I made my own prompt. But I’m doing this anyway! Ha! 🙂

Since Top Ten Tuesday will be on hiatus until March 7th, I decided to just make a list of my top 2016 releases that I wished I was able to read, but sadly missed. There were just so many good releases last year and I hope I could catch up on ALL of them this year! Let’s get started!

1. The Sun Is Also A Star by Nicola Yoon

28763485

Nicola Yoon is recommended by practically everyone in Book Twitter, in BookTube, even all my blogger friends are so into her works, and I just can’t let this year pass without reading them! 🙂 When The Sun Is Also A Star was released last year, I fully intended to get a copy and read it right away, however it was Bar Exams month and I just had to put it off for a while. I’m really excited to read this one, though, and I can’t wait! ❤

2. Walk The Edge by Katie McGarry

17928147

Katie McGarry’s works are probably one of those that are always in my TBR list but never had the chance of reading. It always makes me sad whenever I had to bypass her works, and I intend to remedy that this year. I, however, need to read Nowhere But Here (the first book!) first before getting into Walk The Edge. 🙂

3. Nevernight by Jay Kristoff

This book, guys, this book! I never heard of anything bad about it, just all praises. All praises! The thing is, I don’t KNOW anything about it, too! Ha! I’ve never had the chance of looking into it’s synopsis in Goodreads, and I think I want it to remain that way. I wanna be surprised and I think this is the book that will best do the job!

4. My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton & Jodi Meadows

22840421.jpg

We all know that Lady Jane Grey never had her happy ending, but this book is just about to change history for her! My Lady Jane gives a comical and entertaining twist on what really happened in the history of England. It’s been a long while since I’ve read something that really made me laugh out loud and I think this might be the next best thing to make me LOL. 😀

5. P.S. I Like You by Kasie West

25486998

Ahhh, Kasie West probably holds one of the top tiers when it comes to writing good YA contemporaries. Her novels are just so fluffy and bright and with a really really good balance of finding oneself while at the same time  finding the beauty of relationships! ❤ I can’t wait to get into another one of Kasie West’s pieces and just fall in love again!

6. The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson

So far I have only read one Morgan Matson book, and I know, what am I even doing with my life? I hear ya. And again, this curse is going to be remedied sooner because I ain’t finishing the first half of 2017 without getting The Unexpected Everything in my hands!! I believe this is another Matson book about finding oneself in the midst of everything going haywire. I just love this kind of story lines as I deeply relate to them. Can’t wait! ❤

7. This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab

23299512.jpg

One of my resolutions for last year is to explore and expand to reading the works of V.E. Schwab. I never got the chance, though, and you don’t know how it is frustrating me to my wits end! I want to read V.E. Schwabs works!! I want to so bad that I think something is wrong with me because until now I don’t have any of her books yet! 😦 The frustration is again fired up when July (or August?) last year, she published yet again another book that everybody seems to be loving and raving about! Sigh. Me reading This Savage Song should happen soon!

8. Truthwitch by Susan Dennard

21414439-2

The second book of this series has just been released this year and I really wanna get into this world! I have been hearing so many good things about Truthwitch, and it’s going to be a perfect entry for my YA Fantasy challenge this year! 🙂 Witches and angsty characters? Game on!

9. Passenger by Alexandra Bracken

20983362

I’ve not read any Time Travel novel before, and I am honestly intrigued about how they go. Enter Passenger. I have long been hearing about Alexandra Bracken and The Darkest Minds series (and this is another series I have yet to devour), and I definitely became very very interested when I learned that she’s coming up with a time travel book. I have really high  expectations for Passenger and I hope it doesn’t disappoint! Plus, guys, this cover! My eyes are feasting! 🙂

10. Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

25494343

The main reason why I have not picked this up is because I have not started with the Mortal Instruments series. I know, guys, what have I been doing with my life, AGAIN!? However, I have read the Infernal Devices, though, and I loved them! 🙂 This year I am starting with City of Bones, and I hope I could binge read them throughout the year! 🙂 I definitely can’t wait to get into Lady Midnight after that! Gah, so many books!!!

That’s it, guys! I know there are so many good releases from last year that are not in this list! Let’s talk about them below! 🙂 I would love to hear your most anticipated releases in 2016 but were not able to get into! 🙂

LIFE UPDATE: MY BAR-EXAM-INDUCED HIATUS!

Hi all! First of all, I just wanna scream to the world how much I’ve missed blogging and reviewing books and talking to each one of you! I’m back, guys, and I can’t wait to do a lot of new things in this blog!

Just a little life update: If you’ve been following this blog for a while now, you’d know that I’ve been in and out of the blogging world because of law school. It has been a long journey, which ended with me taking the Bar Examinations through out the whole month of November. What, the whole month?! Yes! The exams were given on all four Sundays of the month. Anyway, enough of the boring stuff. On to the more exciting ones!

To mark a new start, I decided to re-publish this blog from The Booklander to Kat Reads PH 🙂 I wanted a new blog name that has a more personal touch to it, but at the same time one that would capture what I love doing. I honestly tried a lot more complex word combinations (Ha!) but none just felt right. Anyway, I guess the simpler the better, right? If you’re an international reader, PH stands for the Philippines – the country where I’m from!

After I decided to change the blog name, I also thought it would be more proper to separate my personal Twitter account from my bookish account. So I made a new one, @katreadsPH, where I can just ramble about anything and everything book related without bugging my non-reader Twitter followers (I mean, it’s probably their loss not wanting to hear bookish stuff, right? Heh.) Follow me there so we can chat! 🙂

Lastly, I can’t to wait to share with you guys the fact that I’m starting with Maggie Stifvater’s The Raven Cycle series! I’m currently reading The Raven Boys, as recommended by my good friends over at the Rainbow Bookclub and I’m just so excited to go back to the world of YA! It’s been 6 long months since I last read a fantasy and a YA novel! Now I wanna catch on life because gaaah, I missed this genre a lot!

Anyway, that’s my little update, guys! I just wanna tell you that I’M BACK!!!  and I can’t wait to be back to regular blogging again! See you around!
