Dashing Through the Snow Tag!

I have been tagged by the lovely Jenna, over at Reading With Jenna Book Blog to do this Christmas tag and it was just so fun to do! Tell me if we have something  in common! 🙂

1. Name a book you’d like to see under your Christmas Tree

{2F95ED0E-1D47-42A0-8674-3AFD3DA97D4F}Img400n9cover

Two of my most anticipated reads for 2015 are Confess and November 9 by Colleen Hoover! 🙂 And although I badly wanted to buy these two the moment they were released, I did my best not to do so yet because my current TBR is just overflowing! Now I just want to see them under my Christmas tree if Santa would be more generous this year! 🙂

2. A book you’ll be reading during the Christmas season?

71ZlxOeCx4L

I will be reading many, definitely, but the one I am most excited to read is Attachments, by Rainbow Rowell. 🙂 When I read Eleanor and Park earlier this year, I knew I had to collect and read all of Rainbow’s books! So Attachments is definitely one of my most anticipated reads this season!

3. Favourite Christmas movie?

Love-Actually-Gallery-2

Love Actually! Ahhh. This is definitely the most perfect Christmas movie ever created! I love every bit of it! 🙂 And Hugh Grant as the Prime Minister of Great Britain? Just made it more perfect!

4. Do you like snow?

I dunno really. It doesn’t snow here in the Philippines! But I love the rain, if it has any relevance to this question whatsoever. I’m a rain person, so yeah. I guess I would love snow as well because of that 🙂

5. Name a character you would like to spend Christmas Day withClockwork_Angel_1

William Herondale. ‘Coz he’s perfect. Period.

6. To give or to receive?

Well, they say it is better to give than to receive, so I guess to give would be the better answer 🙂

7. What fictional place would you like to spend Christmas Day at?

julia-quinn-bridgerton-series-covers

I would love to be in any historical romance ball 🙂 I have always been a big fan of Julia Quinn, Lisa Kleypas, and all authors of historical romances and I always love it when the female protag attends balls! Everything is just so fancy! ❤

8. Fondest Christmas memory

When I was a kid, my parents would always give me snow globes each year. And I would always wake up with snow globes beside me on Christmas morn, with its soft melody playing to stir me up 🙂

I am tagging the following beautiful people! 🙂 And whoever wants to do this tag, feel free and post away! 🙂

Bea (Confessions of a Pinay Bookaholic)

Joey (Thoughts and Afterthoughts)

Mel (Melissa Discovers the Secrets of Reading)

Aria (Aria Stuck in Wonderland)

Camillia (Twentry Three Pages)

Happy reading, and happy holidays!

Recommending Booktubers!

Screen Shot 2015-09-23 at 6.19.49 AM

My life has drastically changed when I discovered BookTube! I mean, it’s not that I wasn’t reading before, but now I am reading so much more! 🙂 Also, I am buying physical books so much more now! Like. I can’t even explain how drastic my book buying habit has become after BookTube happened in my life. 🙂 Before, my Kindle is my best friend and I just get all the books I read in there. I just buy books if a.) they’re written by my favourite authors (i.e. Julia Quinn, Sandra Brown, etc.) and b.) whenever I’m stressed out from school. Outside of that, I just get everything in my hand-dandy Kindle 🙂

Anyway, I just wanted to share with you guys some BookTubers I have recently discovered, and are under 10,000 followers. I’m sure y’all know about polandbananasBOOKS, jessethereader, Katytastic, abookutopia, PeruseProject, TheLittleBookOwl, etc. already. So I’m not including these big names in my recommendation here. Instead, I decided to focus on those channels that I have currently been watching (and re-watching!) and definitely loving in the process.

P.S. Again, I chose these channels that have less than 10,000 subscribers because I want more people to discover them and how good and comparable these BookTubers are with those big names out there! 🙂

Heather is a mom and I admire how she balances her love for reading, her mom duties, plus managing a YouTube channel on the side! 🙂 If you’re into adult vampire romance, you would love her. She also loves YA fantasy, YA contemporary, and I think just about anything she can sink her teeth into! She’s really cool, you should definitely check out her channel.

Guess I’m ready for a new genre!

It is a fact universally acknowledged that I LOVE READING. (Yeah, I have always loved the “universally-acknowledged line”! Thanks, Jane Austen!). But to be honest, I am scared of trying out other genres as I’m always stuck with my historical romances, mystery/thriller-romances, contemporary romances and general fictions. I’m kinda scared of getting disappointed in a book, so as much as possible, I just stick with the genre I am most comfortable with. This year, however, I wanna try out something new and just expand my reading horizon! Yay! And just last night, I’ve decided that the new genre I’m indulging my self in is *drum rolls please* DYSTOPIAN!

It’s not super new to me, actually. I have read The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins, as well as the The Pandemonium series by Lauren Oliver last year. And surprisingly, I looooved looooved both of them! However, I never had the chance to read other dystopian novels after The Hunger Games and Pandemonium ‘coz, I dunno, I guess I just reverted back to my same, old, comfortable, happy genre.

But last night while I was Booktubing, one series caught my attention because of all the good reviews it’s getting. I looked for it in Goodreads and hey, it’s getting a 4+ stars rating, too! Apparently, it’s so good nobody has anything bad to say about it. I am talking about non other than *another drum roll please!THE LUNAR CHRONICLES SERIES by Marissa Meyer!

cinder-2

I actually have never heard of Marissa Meyer before. Ever. But I guess I’m ready to take this big risk! (I am a huge author person! Versus a cover person or a title person or a plot person, etc.) Based on the reviews, this dystopian series is based on popular fairy tale characters, i.e., Cinder is based on Cinderella, Scarlet on Little Red Riding Hood, and Cress is based on Snow White. The twist, though, is that they are all cyborgs! I actually don’t know what to feel about that fact, because like I said, I have always been into the more realistic genres, but hey, whatever. I am so trying this series because, really, what have I got to lose?

I’m not even sure if it’s dystopian, I’m probably mixing up my genres. It’s a futuristic sci-fi novel, I believe. Yeah, that’s more accurate. But whatever. I’m reading it and I’m being really positive about this new venture! Cheers!

Happy reading, everyone!

January Book Haul!

January 2015 was a crazy month for me! It was the month I discovered the BookTube community and I was just swayed to buy all the titles recommended by my favourite Booktubers! Yes, I am easily swayed like that. Ha ha. This is such a crazy haul, I know!

I’m just so excited about all these titles! And I know school’s getting a lot busier at this time of the year, but whatever! Ha ha.

So that’s it! I hope you enjoy my little haul here.

I’m off to read!
