October TBR!

Whoa. I cannot believe it’s October already, which means September is over (duh, Kat) and we’re only a couple of months away from December! OMG! It’s Christmas! It’s Christmas!

Anyway, before I get too excited here, I just wanna share with you guys my October TBR. I am not reading a lot this month because I have a thesis to defend in the middle of October and I sure won’t be reading fiction come that week. (Please pray for my defense, guys! Huhu. I really hope it turns out well.)Β So what I have here is a couple of books to finish and a couple to start, and that’s it! I won’t even try to aspire to read more this month because it’s going to be hectic. Also, you might notice that what I have on my list are all contemporaries and light reads, and that’s because I really don’t wanna deal with a lot of heavy stuff this month. I want everything to just be nice and warm and fluffy! πŸ™‚ So here goes!

Β 1. Wait for You by Jeniffer L. Armentrout

I’m halfway through Wait For You and what can I say, guys? I am genuinely loving each page of this book! It’s hilarious and sweet and all mushy but with substance and depth. Do you get what I mean? I know you do. ❀ If I don’t have too much school work, I know I’ll be finishing this in one day, but again, things are going cray and it’s been days since I started reading this one. I just wanna finish it already coz I can’t wait to see what happens with Cam and Avery! ❀

Anyway, here’s the Goodreads blurb:Β

2. I’ve Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella

This is my first ever Sophie Kinsella read. I kinda peeked into it and started reading the first couple of chapters and gah, I know I’m going to love it! It’s the very book I need this month – so light and so funny! Now I know why Sophie is the queen of chick lit. I never grew up reading her Shopaholic series because I thought they were too shallow and all. But I guess that assumption is going to have to be turned over now, coz I’ve Got Your Number has totally got me smitten. I’m sure I’ll be picking up more of her works in the future!

Oh and by the way, I’ve got my copy from a Book Blind Date sponsored by Bookbed.org. Readers from all over the Philippines sorta exchanged books and it was so much fun! You can read more about the exchange here.

3. On the Fence by Kasie WestΒ

This is my Rainbow Book Club’s book of the month! And I am so excited because I think this is the first YA contemporary that’s become the book of the month! πŸ™‚ Also, it matches my October theme of reading light and romance-y novels, so yay! Fits perfectly well in my TBR!

Anyway, I have never read a Kasie West work, ever, but I’ve seen her books a lot in the bookstores. Their covers are cute and their plots are usually your typical YA contemporary plots. I don’t know yet, however, how she does her twists or how she makes her stories unique from the others. I have yet to see with this one! I’m definitely excited to read this!

4. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny HanΒ

This last book in my TBR has been sitting in my shelf for like forever. And I mean, forever with a capital F! Ugh. I know I bought this early this year and I just could not understand why I have not read it at all! I’ve always been meaning to pick it up and it’s been part of my other monthly TBRs, but I don’t pick it up and I don’t even get why. πŸ™‚ Haha. Anyway, I’m definitely definitely going to read it this month already!

So that’s my October TBR and I would love to hear what’s on your list in comments box! πŸ™‚

Happy reading always!

Top 5 Series I’m Ashamed I haven’t read yet!

Screen Shot 2015-10-01 at 11.02.16 PM

I have been super behind my series TBR ever since I started writing my thesis around June this year. So that’s been a good three months now and things are actually not getting better ‘coz I just got my schedule for my defense (read: more no-time-to-read excuses).Β Anyway, I just realized that I have so many series I wanted to read, but I never seem to get past book one! 😦 I know, something is wrong with me.

So with this post, I wanted to share with you guys the series I really wanna get into – some I have read the first books, but never continued on with the rest; some I totally never started at all. I guess putting them here in my blog would pressure me to get into them sooner rather than later πŸ™‚

1. The Mara Dyer Trilogy

Mara

I have read The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer and I loved it! It’s thrilling and confusing and super mysterious and it’s just perfect! I think I gave a 4 point something in Goodreads.I have been super intrigued with Noah and Mara’s “condition” and I finished the book right away! πŸ™‚ I was never a fast reader, but this one just a page turner it ended too soon. That is why I don’t understand myself for not picking the second book as soon as I finished the first one. I mean. What the hell was wrong with me, right? I have it in my bookshelf. I freakin’ own it and until now, only-god-knows-how-many-months later, The Evolution of Mara Dyer still sits in my shelf pristinely. Unread.

2. The Lunar Chronicles

Cinder

I have been hearing really good stuff about this series. In fact, I have been hearing NOTHING BUT good stuff. Not a single thumbs down. Ever. And that is why I bought Cinder and Scarlet right away. And guess what I did with both? Yup. Stored in my shelf. Never read. Never opened. 😦 But I really really really wanna read this series already, okay? I mean. Ugh. This frustration is real! 😦 I want to get into it now but I just can’t and I don’t know why. Ugh. I don’t understand either.

3. The Mortal Instruments SeriesΒ

immortalinstruments6books

Compared to the other series mentioned here, I know the reason why I have not picked a single book from the Mortal Instruments. I am intimidated by this series. Yes. Intimidated with a capital I. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s one of the best YA urban fantasies out there, but I don’t know if I’d really be able to get into it as much as the rest of you guys do. I might love it, I might not, and I’m scared. But that doesn’t mean I don’t wanna get into it. I badly wanna start this as well! It’s just that they’re too many and the others are too thick and too intimidating and ugh. (I’ve read the Infernal Devices already though and they’re just amazing. Like. Will Herondale changed my life forever).

4. Throne of Glass Series

throneofglass_zpsdb74cc77

Throne of Glass is probably one of the most bad-ass novels I have read this year. I loved it – I loved Celaena, I loved Chaol, and I am totally totally head over heels over Dorian. I loved it, and I just can’t express how much I appreciated each and every page in Throne of Glass. It was awesome. πŸ™‚ I don’t understand, though, why I did not jump into the Crown of Midnight right away! Ugh. It’s in my shelf, actually, and all I need to do is pull it out and read it. But I have not. 😦 And, my god, I just don’t understand myself. #feelthefrustration

5. Percy Jackson Series

percy-jackson-and-the-olympians

I have not been one of those kids that grew up reading about Percy. I was more of a Narnia person, so I really had no idea who Percy was until just recently – or when the movie came out. (I’m sorry! No idea who he was for the longest time and I know that sucks). So anyway, I’m glad, though, that I have not been the only one. I keep seeing booktubers and book bloggers that are actually like myself and are starting with the series as late as I do. Because guess what, better late than never read right? πŸ™‚ I finished the Lightning Thief already and I loved it! ❀ I know I’m gonna be cotinuing on with the series on November, when things are lighter academic burden-wise πŸ™‚

So that’s it, guys! I would love to hear what your unread series are in the comments section below πŸ™‚ I would love recommendations of your favourite series as well! πŸ™‚

Happy reading always! πŸ™‚
